Upton Methodist
Church
Children’s Holiday Club
23rd
– 27th July 2007

WASTEWATCHERS was
this year's
children's holiday club (for children at school aged 5-11 years) organised by
Upton Methodist Church. The club ran every morning from Monday 23rd to
Friday 27th July 2007 from 10 am till 12 noon. About 90 children turned up each
day and we had a fantastic week jam-packed full
of craft activities, quizzes, songs, Bible stories, Sooty & Sweep (and
Squawky the Bird!) and basically all kinds of fun and games
(including scrummy biscuits) - all with an environmental theme.
The
week wrapped up with an extra-special
WASTEWATCHERS
service on Sunday 29th
July at 10:30 am
for all
ages followed by a
barbecue lunch.
During the week we had all the usual favourite activities
and a few new ones too:
| |
 |
A range of cool craft
activities - all on a green theme and most using recycled materials |
| |
 |
A short Bible story presented through storytelling and
cartoon animation on DVD each day. |
| |
 |
Drinks & Rona's yummy homemade biscuits each
morning. |
| |
 |
Team games to test the skills
of the Wastewatchers! |
| |
 |
Some great songs - all with lots of
actions. I think we must have burned off a few calories! |
| |
 |
Sooty and Sweep (and their mates) were back
in full effect - acting out the stories for themselves (or trying to at any
rate!) and testing the Wastewatchers on what they could remember. |
| |
 |
The Messy Bit -
Oh yes! We just couldn't do a Holiday Club without it! This was the
first time I'd ever used flour, water, baked beans, mushy peas and cold custard
all in one messy game! You had to be there!!! |
| |
 |
On Your Bike - a brand new feature which
involved a person being interviewed for 60 seconds about their Christian faith -
whilst they are pedalling an exercise bike! |
